He is Commemorated on the Buderim Mountain Roll of Honour Board, Buderim War Memorial Hall, Buderim, Queensland.

Charles Leslie Ambrose Wright was born on 10 May 1895 at Brownsville, Woollongong New South Wales.

Brownsville was named after George Brown who received a grant of 300 acres, south of Mullet Creek, in 1833. George Brown's 'Ship Inn', situated on this property, became the centre of a busy farming community. This settlement was the original village of Dapto. It later became known as Brownsville when a new settlement began to develop around the railway station to the south.

He married Florence Lilian Geritz on 4 March 1916 in Queensland. Lilian was born on 22 July 1898 in Wyandra, Queensland.

The Australian Electoral Roll 1917–1928 shows Charles living in Palmwoods and working as a carter.

In 1918 Charles ran a coach service from Buderim to Mooloolah Heads.

BUDERIM TO MOOLOOLAH HEADS

There is a large well-kept boarding house at Buderim capable of accommodating a large number of visitors, and from here Mr. C. Wright runs a large five-horse coach to the beach, a distance of about four miles. During Christmas week the settlers were visiting the beach and travelling to and fro in motorcars, buggies, sulkies, and other vehicles. Chronicle, 10 January 1919.

PALMWOODS - Send Off

Mr. C. L. A. Wright, who is shortly leaving the district to reside In Gatton, was accorded a send- off by the members, of the local Masonic Lodge. Mr. Wright, who was a Past Master of the Lodge, was presented with an apron satchel. The Brisbane Courier, 1 June 1929. Charles became the proprietor of the Royal Hotel at Allora during 1930-32.

TEMPORARY BAR - The licensing court yesterday granted an application by Charles Leslie Ambrose Wright for permission to conduct a temporary bar at his premises at Allora, which, had, been destroyed by fire on May 10. Warwick Daily News, 26 May 1931.

He moved to Cotton Street, Sandgate around 1936 where his occupation was shown as a traveller.

Charles died on 23 December 1966 at “Eventide” Sandgate, Brisbane.

Lilian died on 4 July 1974 in Brisbane, Queensland.

OBITUARY Mrs. Leah R. Wright, of Kembla Grange, passed away at her daughter's (Mrs. C. Irwin) residence, Queen's Parade, Wollongong, on Saturday, at the age of 78 years. The deceased was born at West Dapto. Her husband, who is a foreman employed by the Central Illawarra Council, and nine children survive her. A service was held in the St. Luke's C. of E. and the remains were interred in the cemetery at Brownsville. Illawarra Mercury, 8 June 1945.

On the 7th December at Wollongong Hospital the death occurred of Mr. Charles Daniel Wright, of Princess Highway, Kembla Grange. Aged 77 years, he was the relict of the late Mrs. Leah Wright, who pre-deceased him two years ago, and father of Elizabeth (Mrs. C. M. Irwin), William (Queensland), Maud (Mrs. W. Smithers), Charles (Queensland), Leah (Sydney, Harold (Sydney), Myrtle (Mrs. J. Walder, Coniston), George (Sydney), and Wesley (Kembla Grange). He had been employed by the Central Illawarra Shire Council as a working ganger for a number of years and was widely known. The remains were interred at the Brownsville Church of England Cemetery. Sun Coast Times Wollongong, 3 Jan 1947.
