David Thomas ABRAHAMS born on 25th December 1889, in Beerwah, S.E. Queensland, the son of Charles Abrahams & Rose Ellen (Bonney) Abrahams. Enlisted in the AIF on 8 January 1916, at the age of 26, stating his occupation as that of farm labourer, and naming his mother Mrs Rose Abrahams, of 1st Avenue, Albion, Brisbane, as his Next of Kin. From 2 January to 11 March (1916) he was posted to 11 Depot Battalion, Enoggera, Brisbane, before being posted to the 31st battalion / 7th Reinforcement. The Unit embarked from Brisbane, Qld on board HMAT A49 "Seang Choon" on 4 May 1916, bound for Egypt.

Disembarked Suez, 15 June, 1916 Proceeded to England, and taken on strength, 8th Training Battalion, 22 August, 1916 Proceeded overseas to France, 11 November, 1916, taken on strength, 31st Battalion, in the field, 16th December, 1916. Admitted to hospital, 6th January 1917 (eyes) no further details recorded. On leave to UK, 13 Jan 1918, rejoined unit from leave, 27 Jan, 1918. Detached to Australian Corps Gas School, 15 March 1918, rejoined unit, 27 March, 1918 On leave to UK 18 October 1918,rejoined unit from leave, 5 Nov, 1918 Married Kate Elizabeth Reckitts, spinster, aged 29, Stranmore Anglican Church, near Winchester, Hampshire 24 October, 1918 Attached for duty with AIF Headquarters (Chest Club), London, 3 Feb 1919 Granted leave wit pay and subs (Non-Military Employment), 19 May - 19 August (farming and dairying, Swanmore, Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire) Proceeded on indefinite leave, 20 August, 1919 Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Shropshire', 2 December, 1919, disembarked Sydney, 30 January, 1920, Discharged Brisbane, 24 March 1920
