Wallace Frederick WYLIE, Private, 9th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement. He was born in IIkley, near Brisbane on 11th April 1895. The son of James Malcolm and Isabella Wylie.
He enlisted on 9th October 1915 in Townsville and embarked from Sydney, NSW on board HMAT SS Hawkes Bay on 20th April 1916.
He was sent overseas to England then France. He was detached from the 9th Battalion to the First Australian Division of Engineers. He served France and then rejoined the 9th Battalion before being transferred to the 69th Battalion.
He returned to Australia via New Zealand on the SS Pakeha and returned to Australia 27th August 1917. He became a labourer and lived in Wylie`s Siding, Japoon, Innisfail, Atherton and Herberton.
Wallace never married and died on 25th March 1980 in Herberton, Queensland at the age of 84. - Returned to Australia
