It seems that Vincent enlisted twice as he has two Service Numbers. His first pages refer to No.313 then page 5 show the Number as 6402. All other information the same. It seems that he not only did service in Belgium, France and Harve but somehow he was in Rabaul in New Guinea. He enlisted for service there on 10th December 1914 and was in G Company in Rabaul 2nd February 1915. So it seems that he went there before his service in Europe. He was 32 years six months his trade "Soldier" and "Sawyer". He was married, his wife Sarah Ellen (Nellie) Askwith of Dalesbrow Farm, Worsley Rd., Swinton, Lancashire. U.K. His Father was named as William Brooks. He enlisted at the Showground Camp Sydney (Liverpool) on 7th December 1914. He was in the Lancashire Fusiliers for Thirteen and a Half Years. He embarked Sydney on the Suevic 11th November, 1916 and disembarked Devonport 30th January, 1917. In hospital in England 28th February, 1917. Overseas to France from Southampton 22nd May,1917. To 19th Battalion France 10th June, 1917 and to 20th Battalion 11th October 1918. Hospitalised several times in France, Belgium and England 1917. Rheumatic Fever. Embarked H.S. St Denis from France for England 20th December, 1917. Proceeded back to France Ex Langbridge Deverill 3rd July 1918. Returned to Australia to Katoomba 8th August 1919 and discharged 24th April, 1919. His records show that he had tattoos on both arms, "Faith, Hope and Charity" and two women. Letters on file from his wife and the Department's replies regarding his medals and addressed to a Nambour address during May 1933 refer to Vincent as "deceased" so that he passed away somewhere between his discharge and May 1933. (See pages 17/18/19/24 of his records)
