Harry was born on 13 November 1899 to parents Hermann and Mary ( nee Millewski) at Tallegalla, near Rosewood. following enlistment on 8th April 1916 he entrained to Sydney where he boarded H.M.A.T Malwa which sailed from Sydney on 22nd July 1916. Harry was a trooper with 5th Light Horse Regiment and later attended school of instruction and retrained as a gunner. He received gun shot wound to his right thigh during the early part of 1918 and required hospitalisation. He was returned to Australia for early repatriation and disembarked in Melbourne on 11th April 1919 before being discharged in Brisbane on1 June 1919. He married Florence Louisa Maddick on 15th July 1919 and later that year had taken up lot 610 at Beerburrum Soldier Settlement to become a fruit grower. As history shows not many the original fruit growers were able to make a go of their lots and he had walked away by 1922 to become a linesman with the Government Railway being stationed over the years at Rosalie and Roma. He died on 2nd April 1943 while living at Sandgate
