Thomas was the brother of Arthur George, and Walter Ernest, and the son of James and Rachel CLAYDON(Aboriginal Mother.) He was in Etaples on the 12th December 1916. Like his brother, Thomas had a very troubled Army life. In June of 1919 he returned to Australia. His parents are buried in Pomona cemetery.

Studio portrait of 2124 Private Thomas Leslie Andrews, 49th Battalion of Cooran, Qld and two unidentified soldiers. A bullock driver prior to his enlistment on 28 March 1916 he embarked from Brisbane on HMAT Boorara and returned to Australia on 4 July 1919.

My Pop always my hero. Last saw him when I was 5. Now near 60 and still very proud of him.

I wish I had a copy of his medals. Forever a hero in your grandaughter's eyes.
