NORTH Henry William Roger

Henry was born in Clermont, Qld and was aged 21 years 1 month then a Farmer when he enlisted at Brisbane on 1st May, 1916 as a Private and posted to the 11th Com. Depot. and to The Rifle Range Camp on 25th August, 1916.

He named his Mother Mrs Vera North, Kooringal, Swan Street, Sandgate, Qld. as his next of kin.

He embarked from Brisbane Ex "Seang Choon" on the 19th September, 1916 and disembarked at Plymouth, England on 19th December, 1916. He was charged with "Smoking between decks" while at sea and was fined one day's pay.

He was admitted to the Nth. West hospital "sick" at Codford from 1st January, 1917 till 7th January, 1917 He boarded the "Invicta" for France from Folkston on 25th February, 1917 and joined his unit - 47th Battalion - at Etaples. He was hospitalised in France with Asthma from 12th April, 1917 to 21st April, 1917 and rejoined his unit on 25th April, 1914. He was again hospitalised with tonsillitis in France from 5th to the 9th May, 1917.

On 7th June, 1917 he was wounded in action in France and returned to England to be admitted to Denmark Hill with shell shock until 16th August, 1917. He was again transferred to the 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, England and discharged to duty on 27th August, 1917.

He returned to Australia Ex "Beltana" on 10th December, 1917 and was discharged on 30th January, 1918.

He was deceased on 20th January 1952 (Info. War Graves List No.116 - P.2)
